There is movement in the German restaurant landscape: BackWerk Management GmbH is entering into a partnership with LeBuffet Restaurant&Café GmbH. With almost 350 BackWerk stores in Europe and 72 LeBuffet restaurants in Germany, two established names in the sector are cooperating. On 1 February, LeBuffet opened the first BackWerk in the Karstadt department store in the Rhein-Ruhr-Zentrum (RRZ) in Mülheim an der Ruhr. The first BackWerk will be followed by other new openings in Karstadt stores.
BackWerk Managing Director Karl Brauckmann is looking forward to the new connection: “With LeBuffet, we have gained an extremely valuable partner that can look back on years of experience providing gastronomic services. With the existing Karstadt stores, we are gaining access to highly frequented locations. We will benefit from this to a large extent, particularly in terms of increasing our brand awareness.”
The partnership is advantageous both for the diverse snack provider and for the experienced store-based restaurants: The different offers complement each other harmoniously. With its feel-good food character, BackWerk attracts customers who do not have much time and want to enjoy a quick snack as finger food. At LeBuffet with its live cooking islands, the guest wants to take more time and savour a meal prepared before his eyes.
Urs Bischof, Managing Director of LeBuffet, is also pleased about the cooperation: “As a pioneer of German self-service bakeries and an established brand in quick-service catering, BackWerk is the ideal partner for us. In addition to traditional store restaurant business, we see growth potential for ourselves in the market of quick-service catering. I am convinced that both sides will benefit from this long-term partnership.”
The newly opened BackWerk in the RRZ is around 70 square metres in size and provides space for 30 guests. It is located to the right of the entrance area of the Karstadt store on the ground floor level 1.
